About the Role The Assistant Director, Acquisitions, Registration and Cultural Gifts is a key leadership position within the Collection Development and Care program and works collaboratively with others to grow and care for the AIATSIS collection. The preferred candidate will be able to think strategically and support colleagues, be solution focused, show initiative, practice sound judgement and decision making, and have a positive approach to their work.
Key Responsibilities Managing and leading the operation of the unit, including detailed administration and reporting. Taking responsibility for the performance and outputs of the unit. Working collaboratively with unit staff and peers, leading projects to successful outcomes. Providing leadership and developing productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Researching, developing and implementing collection-related policies and strategies. Providing high-level expert advice on professional, technical and administrative matters. Working effectively at the Executive level of the Australian Public Service. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will demonstrate cultural capability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and have an authentic interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, policy, and implementation matters.
