About the role Are you skilled in undertaking audits and investigations? Do you have an inquisitive mind and keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of financial documentation along with interpreting legislation? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Business Taxes Team as an Assistant Compliance Officer at Revenue NSW.
You will play a crucial role in conducting audits and investigations to ensure adherence to relevant laws and internal policies. You will research and make decisions and provide customer education on compliance-related matters. Your attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally are vital in this role.
Your day to day can include: Meeting customers or their external representatives such as accountants at their place of business, conduct interviews and reviewing key financial documents. Analyse customer information from various external and internal data sources, write reports with your recommendations. Advise customers of the audit determination and work in collaboration with them to meet their obligations. Deliver customer-focused education and connect them to relevant educational resources. Regular travel within the Sydney region where our customers are mainly located, and from time-to-time travel to areas outside of Sydney. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related field and/or equivalent work experience. Ability to interpret financial documents and analyse information. Proven experience in compliance or within a similar role. Knowledge and ability to interpret legislation and relevant laws. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate others on compliance matters. Good negotiation skills to gain acceptance from customers and/or their accounting and/or legal representatives during the audit process while maintaining positive customer relationships. Proven experience in writing reports, correspondence for customers and their representatives to inform and support decision-making. Detail-oriented and organised, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines. High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to maintain confidentiality.
