You'll belong.How will you contribute?As the leader of the performance audit practice, you will provide strategic direction to staff in the development and delivery of an impactful program of work. You will ensure the branch produces quality reports and delivers insights to Parliament to help it in its important role in holding government accountable for the use of public resources. The Assistant Auditor-General, Performance Audit also provides high level advice to the Auditor-General, Deputy Auditor-General and the Office Executive on all relevant matters relating to Performance Audit and the office's strategic direction.Key accountabilities of this role include:Providing high level professional leadership to achieve the Audit Office's vision, mission, values, goals and strategies, and deliver specific strategic corporate objectives as agreed. Ensuring effective strategies and quality control processes are in place within Performance Audit to achieve agreed standards and objectives in compliance with legislative, administrative and professional requirements, while delivering value-added audit products. Leading the process for setting the Performance Audit agenda, issuing findings and executing the statutory requirements of the role. Effectively managing relationships with internal and external (government agencies) parties by acting as engagement controller, reviewer or client relationship manager on agreed audits. Ensuring high quality Performance Audits are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with the scope of audit requirements. Ensuring the branch produces compelling reports with observations and recommendations that are supported by appropriate evidence and analysis of data. Ensuring Performance Audit is committed to audit excellence by fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. Ensuring compliance with the Audit Office Code of Conduct and all other internal policies, business rules and procedures including records management and workplace health and safety policies.What will you need to succeed?We are seeking candidates who have excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have an inclusive leadership style and a track record of achieving results through constructive influence. They will have an ability to effectively use analytical skills and employ sound judgement to develop focused solutions.You will also need to possess: A tertiary qualification in an appropriate business discipline. Comprehensive leadership experience in one or more of the following areas: public policyprogram development and implementationprogram evaluation external or independent review or investigations functions.A sound understanding and knowledge of auditing or evaluation and research concepts and techniques, government operations and policies, and public sector processes would be an advantage. You also need to be an Australian permanent resident or citizen or New Zealand citizen. What are the benefits?On offer is flexible work practices and a total remuneration package (including superannuation) ranging from $295,848 to $378,906 p.a depending on experience, skills and capabilities. The Audit Office is a rewarding, challenging and impactful place to work where we value diversity and take a collaborative approach to 'getting things done'.
