We lead the market in providing purpose-designed solutions for our customers, handling containers, bulk, automotive and general cargo.THE ROLEThe primary purpose of the National Workshop Service Manager is to manage the workshop staff, facilities, and equipment, build depth redundancy and a knowledge base in the workshop team to provide industry standard service to the Qube Ports business divisions.ABOUT YOUYou will be committed to safety in the workplace and be committed to 100% Chain of Responsibility compliance. We're proud of our 'Zero Harm' initiative and provide extensive on-the-job training to ensure you get home safely at the end of every day.Specific Responsibilities:Contributes to the development and implementation of strategies, policies and systems to support workshop managers.Actively manage company apprentices with monitoring and mentoring programs to ensure they are adequately trained and signed off to reach their qualifications.Ensure all new and existing staff have the appropriate certification to undertake tasks allocated in a tradesperson like manner.To meet NHVR compliance and auditing purposes, monitor systems to show verification and documentation of workflow is recorded correctly from initial fault to repair completion.Manage the workshop facilities and tooling levels to ensure staff conditions and equipment provided are adequate and task suited.Installing auditing and inspection processes to ensure staff and management are taking good care of company equipment, ensuring all equipment & tooling is compliant and in good working order with appropriate training and instruction to safely use specialized tooling.Assist workshop managers with staff to undertake disciplinary procedures, staff hires and onboarding procedures, training courses.Ensure internal staff are service focused to provide crucial logistical support to the operating divisions.Install communication systems between operations and workshops to ensure machinery and plant is serviced on time.Install systems and process for workshop managers to manage stock levels and maintain records of consumption to ensure ongoing supply of services, parts and consumables essential to meet the requirements of scheduled maintenance and unplanned repairs.Manage and monitor stock takes.Establishes and maintains supplier relationships and monitors contractor performance at a national level.Monitor third party costs and make appropriate changes to increase internal service levels to reduce costs.Install fleet maintenance and repair plans in line with company objectives.Monitors and reports on progress of fleet maintenance and services programs in relation to budgets, delivery timelines as required.Work with the SHS team to ensure HSnE regulations are adhered to, monitored and reported on monthly, and make recommendations for improvement.Promote safe work environments by conducting safety audits and workshop inspections, attending monthly safety committee meetings.Meet all the SHS KPI obligations to ensure staff work safety, including risk assessments & safety engagements.Monitor machinery & plant condition and hours and operational run costs, recommend machinery major component replacement in order to increase efficiency and services to operations and reduce consequential failure costs.Make recommendations and strategic decisions to improve the fleet to either refurbish, trade, sell or dispose of an asset to improve fleet reliability.Ensuring staff have adequate training and competency levels to effectively manage fleet software database, capturing machinery records and manuals, entering kms, repairs and servicing history.Managing and approving P/O within delegated Authority limits.Submitting capex's for approvals.Creating power point presentations to showcase achievements and forward planning.Report up inside the Etvia platform managing BPO Action plans and milestones accordingly.Manage the INXs Safety platform.Follow up on warranty claims.Produce monthly reports for senior executive strategic management decisions.Provide monthly progress and development reports to the management team.Qualifications and ExperienceHave an established proven record of heavy fleet maintenance.Have historical workshop and staff management experience.Hold current MC truck license.Desirable high risk license for forklift.Relevant experience in a similar position.Strong leadership and relationship management skills.A professional and positive attitude when dealing with people at all levels.Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.The ability to continually prioritize and deliver quality data on time.Innovation and idea generation in relation to logistics issues.Why QUBE?At Qube, we recognise that our people are our most important asset and are the engine that drives our organisation, playing a vital role in ensuring our business achieve our objectives and deliver on our commitments.
