Our Asphalt Laying team in Hazelmere is on the lookout for a committed self-starter who wishes to be trained in asphalt compaction. This position will perform coring of the asphalt and testing of density. A casual role to begin with, although an opportunity for ongoing permanent employment, you will be required to travel, work nights, and weekends through peak season. As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop on the job whilst studying to obtain your Cert IV in Civil Construction.
You will be responsible for:
Communicating with the Site Engineer and Supervisor for daily duty assignments.Working with asphalt paving foreman and roller operators on roller patterns to achieve optimum compaction through use of a Pavement Quality Indicator (PQI).Troubleshooting, identifying, correcting, and preventing quality control issues.Performing field testing, quality control reporting, and record keeping.To be successful in this position you will require the following skills/experience:
Strong sense of safety, commitment, and reliability with a desire for a career within the Asphalt industry.Have a construction induction card (White Card) - not essential.A valid drivers' license.Possess strong written and oral communication skills.Basic knowledge with technology.The pre-employment process will include a medical check, including drug and alcohol screening.
