About the role: The Commercial and Governance Team provides advice relating to governance, general compliance and administrative policy matters, coordinates legal advice from Crown Solicitors office, provides general commercial advice on contracts and delivers the Department's risk management, performance reporting, and Enterprise Planning functions.
The Manager, Governance and Risk is responsible for maintaining, improving, and ensuring implementation of, best practice frameworks across the Department, and providing advice regarding risk, governance, compliance, legislation and policy, and commercial contracts (or other agreements) to support delivery of the Department's Strategic Objectives, Strategic Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Commercial, and General Advisory functions.
Key Competencies: To apply and succeed in the role, you will have:
Strong understanding of legal practices, and ability to implement and apply legal concepts. Experience in delivering strategic risk management, audit, governance and compliance activities and programs. Experience in dealing with contracts (including grants), including provision of strategic commercial advice and significant experience in interpreting and applying complex legislation. Proven experience in developing, implementing, monitoring, and improving corporate governance frameworks, policies, practices and procedures. Significant experience in producing high quality written products, such as: Complex reports, detailed advice to executives and leaders, briefing papers (Executive, Chief Executive and Minister), cabinet submissions and discussion papers and proposals. Remuneration: Competitive salary $121,107 min to $125,679 max pa plus superannuation.
