About the Role: The Aboriginal Pathways directorate leads targeted elements of the Department for Education Aboriginal Education Strategy 2019 to 2029 and Closing the Gap targets in support of academic achievement and future employment opportunities of secondary Aboriginal learners through major program initiatives like The Workabout Centre, the South Australia Aboriginal Secondary Training Academy (SAASTA), and the Tjindu Aboriginal AFL Academy program.
The programs are innovative and work with schools to provide tailored support for secondary Aboriginal learners towards successful pathways to further education, employment, and training, including access to industry.
With a culturally safe and responsive approach, the programs focus on student engagement with the aim to improve school retention, learning outcomes, and ultimately, completion rates of the South Australian Certificate of Education.
SAASTA is a highly regarded and unique education, cultural, and sporting program for Aboriginal students with academies operating in high schools across South Australia.
The academy aims to pursue excellence in achievement through a specifically designed culturally responsive, flexible, and high-quality curriculum.
The Specialist Academies Coordinator will take responsibility for the coordination of SAASTA Specialist Academies.
The coordinator will oversee and engage with staff in the delivery of quality learning outcomes for Aboriginal secondary students within the SAASTA program.
The coordinator will collaborate with the Curriculum Coordinator Aboriginal Pathways and the Aboriginal Pathways Expert Curriculum Working Group to ensure that the cultural integrity and responsiveness of the academy is maintained.

Qualifications: Desirable Knowledge and Experience: Relevant graduate qualifications.Knowledge, connectivity, and experience working with Aboriginal communities and networks across South Australia and broadly.Special Conditions: The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed, which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course, which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration: ASO7 $108,109 - $116,864 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.
