Networks & Systems Administration (Information & Communication Technology)Full timeSalary Package: $122,686 - $139,389 (plus super)Our EL1 HPC System Administrator will lead or assist system administrator activities supporting the Linux and software services in the High Performance Computing environment, provision and configure servers and services across a variety of platforms. The HPC System Administrator will be required to write support and security documentation, and work cohesively and communicate effectively with High Performance Computing Infrastructure project, technical and engineering staff, and stakeholder groups.Key Duties:Build, manage, and develop highly available containers through cluster orchestration platforms and bespoke automation/tooling.Build, manage, and develop highly available storage services across a broad range of platforms, integrating disparate software stacks conformant to customer requirements.Build, manage, and develop highly available networking and data fabric technologies utilising both commercial and open source solutions.Lead the installation, upgrade, and decommissioning of hardware, ensuring and verifying system integrity, and adhering to all relevant security and Change Management policies and procedures.Configure and manage software (including applications and Operating Systems) to be fit for purpose, while implementing all appropriate security hardening measures for compliance to the Information Security Manual (ISM) or suitable equivalent.Maintain technological currency with High Performance Computing systems and contextualise relevant knowledge against legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks to provide advice and deliver appropriate outcomes.Create and maintain comprehensive support and security documentation, adherent to current organisational and team policies, practices, procedures, and templates.Mentor and develop junior technical staff through personable and professional knowledge transfer, and engage their understanding of the context through which we operate.Our Ideal CandidateWorks under broad direction, often with self-initiated tasks.Has significant influence over the allocation and management of resources appropriate to given assignments.Implements and executes policies aligned to strategic plans.Demonstrates leadership in operational management and advises on available standards, methods, tools, applications and processes relevant to group specialism(s) and can make appropriate choices from alternatives.Influences organisation, customers, suppliers, partners and peers on the contribution of own specialism.Makes decisions which impact the success of assigned work, i.e. results, deadlines and budget.Leads on user/customer and group collaboration throughout all stages of work.Ensures users' needs are met consistently through each work stage.Builds appropriate and effective business relationships across the organisation and with customers, suppliers and partners.Creates and supports collaborative ways of working across group/area of responsibility.Facilitates collaboration between stakeholders who have diverse objectives.ASD is seeking applicants to fill current and anticipated vacancies and to create a merit pool for future vacancies.
