This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing organisation for a 1-year full-time contract.This role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following accountabilities in line with the YYNAC strategic plan:Assist the Cultural Heritage Manager and Heritage Officer with cultural heritage management related activities, including provision of guidance in decision making, identifying and carrying out compliant activities, and reporting to the YYNAC Council of Elders as directed by the CEO.Provide guidance to YYNAC staff and accurately record Aboriginal cultural heritage values for the purpose of entry into the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Register and reporting matters to the relevant authorities.Support the Cultural Heritage Unit with reporting on field work results and assessments, including the development of appropriate heritage protection and management activities, and strategies for Yorta Yorta Elders and Community to identify and protect culturally significant places and landscapes.Participate in the development and implementation of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Land Management Agreements (ACHLMAs) between YYNAC and Public Land Managers.Carry out a survey of Barmah Island and Barmah National Park according to the standards set by First Peoples - State Relations.Assist with the accurate maintenance of the Cultural Heritage Unit records management system, including filing (paper and electronic), reports, databases, and archival records to ensure tracking of all records, including cultural heritage correspondence and documentation.ABOUT YOUA relevant tertiary qualification with Honours in archaeology, anthropology, or cultural heritage management, or evidence of equivalent experience over a period of time.Demonstrated cultural competencies in communicating and working sensitively, respectfully, and effectively with First Nations Peoples and Aboriginal People generally.Ability to review, evaluate, prepare, and draft accurate and thorough reports and documents relevant to heritage assessments, inspections, and investigations.A sound understanding and practical application of organisational contexts with a proven track record in developing and maintaining excellent client service.Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills, including competent written reports and the ability to establish and build relationships with stakeholders on a business and cultural level.Ability to identify the impact and risk of a program, project, or issue, on people or organisations with a direct or indirect interest.Encourages and supports the implementation of systems, processes, and innovative approaches that will deliver outcomes beyond expectations.A current Victorian or Australian Driver's Licence.A Construction Induction Card (White Card).WHAT WE OFFER YOU• Salary packaging of $15,900 available for Part- or Full-time employees.• Access to free and confidential Employment Assistance Program.We strongly encourage applications from Yorta Yorta peoples and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.To apply or request a copy of the position description please email: ******.
