Job Brief Efficient and effective night operations is critical in achieving optimal prawn health and survival outcomes. As such, this role is a very important part of a small but dedicated and reliable team working to manage water quality and prawn health.
In your new role as an Aquaculture Technician – Pond Operations, you will be conducting daily inspections and monitoring of pond health, implementing pond remediation strategies after each season, and maintaining high operational standards for pond maintenance.
Proserpine: Located on our prawn farm halfway between Airlie Beach and Bowen, you'll work in a stunning area. You'll be working 7/7 roster so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy everything the Whitsundays have to offer!
This is a night shift role and you will be working from 6pm – 6am. What does your week look like? Pond remediation: Supporting with remediating ponds after harvest / end of season. Inspections: Inspecting and monitoring ponds for signs of any issues with prawns, water or additions. Conducting water exchanges and daily monitoring of prawn activity and water quality. Can Do – Safely: Ensuring all work is completed in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all safety regulations and procedures. General Tasks: Supporting with any other tasks and jobs that come up on the farm. What can you bring? Any aquaculture/agriculture experience is highly desirable but not essential. A driver's licence is essential in this role. You will have some basic technology skills as our jobs will all come through via an iPad.
