Marketing Assistants/Coordinators (Marketing & Communications) Please note a baseline security clearance is required for this role and the candidate must be an Australian Citizen. The Communication Branch seeks an experienced APS6 Communications Officer to assist with ongoing campaign work led by the Workforces and Medicines communications account team.
This senior communications officer role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing communication strategies for large-scale campaigns, as well as public relations activities.
The role involves content creation, media engagement, cross-departmental coordination, budget management, and leadership responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic professional who can manage the full campaign life cycle, from strategy development through to execution, while providing guidance and support to junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:Campaign Strategy and Implementation:Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies for large-scale campaigns, particularly related to work forces and medicines.Ensure alignment of campaigns with the Department's strategic objectives and the broader priorities of the Government.Design multi-channel campaigns that include digital platforms, traditional media, and community outreach, ensuring effective audience targeting.Measure and evaluate campaign performance using key metrics, adjusting strategies where necessary to optimise outcomes.Content Creation and Management:Oversee the creation and delivery of key communication materials, including newsletters, reports, press releases, and digital content.Ensure content is accurate, clear, and aligned with the intended campaign objectives, with a focus on consistency in messaging.Review and edit all communication materials for clarity, quality, and compliance with departmental guidelines and standards.Collaborate with internal teams, designers, and external agencies to ensure materials are engaging and meet campaign needs.Cross-Departmental Coordination:Work closely with various internal departments to ensure messaging is consistent across all communication activities and platforms.Coordinate with stakeholders across government departments, external partners, and media to ensure a unified approach to communication.Support collaboration between communications, policy, and other operational teams to deliver integrated and aligned messaging.Provide strategic advice to senior management on communication initiatives, aligning tactics with organisational and government priorities.Leadership and Staff Development:Provide leadership and mentoring to junior communication staff, guiding them through campaign development and execution.Develop training programs and resources to enhance the professional growth of junior staff.Promote teamwork and a positive work culture by fostering an environment of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning.Manage the workload and ensure that deadlines are met, while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.Problem-Solving and Risk Management:Anticipate and identify potential risks and challenges during campaign execution, proactively addressing any issues that may arise.Develop strategies to mitigate reputational risks, including responding quickly to media inquiries or issues that may negatively affect the campaign.Utilise problem-solving techniques to navigate obstacles and keep campaigns on track, adapting strategies where necessary.Provide contingency plans and solutions in cases of unexpected changes or disruptions to campaign activities.Campaign Monitoring and Reporting:Monitor campaign performance, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as audience engagement, reach, and media coverage.Prepare detailed reports on the outcomes of campaigns, offering insights and recommendations for future activities.Provide real-time updates to senior management, offering adjustments or enhancements based on ongoing evaluations.This role will be running for an initial 12 month period with the possibility of extension.
