Your new company
Our client plays a crucial role in strengthening communities and regions by promoting local economic growth and implementing effective governance across Australia's external territories. The successful candidate will be part of the section which delivers infrastructure projects related to Australia's external territories. Your new team manages and delivers a broad range of complex capital investment projects, procurement of complex service management contracts, and the contract management of major service contracts.
Your new role
As the Procurement Project Officer, you will perform administrative tasks, project management, and contract management services under the guidance of the Project Director.
Tasks include: Undertaking various project management tasks in the procurement of service delivery contracts and capital investment projects Assisting in the engagement and management of external contractors and specialist advisers Providing financial reporting on the Territories Capital Works Program Preparing Briefs and Minutes for senior officers and Project Steering Committees Reviewing contract documentation and assisting in contract negotiations and final contract execution Providing administrative support for projects Conducting procurements using department templates and/or Commonwealth templates Performing contract management responsibilities What you'll need to succeed Support and undertake client-side project management in a government context Apply initiative and judgement in the application of project procedures Manage and report on project finances Work autonomously Produce high-quality drafts requiring little or no revision before finalisation Provide excellent communication, liaison, and interpersonal skills Apply knowledge to different contextual scenarios Work at a high tempo for short periods and complete tasks on short notice Desirable Experience and Qualities Project and contract management experience in the successful delivery of capital acquisition projects Experience in undertaking procurement in line with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules An understanding of the security requirements for working in a Commonwealth Department What you'll get in return s26 Transfer from a current position or from within a merit pool
