The ANAO is seeking an experienced and motivated individual who has strong technical accounting skills and attention to detail.
The key duties of the position include:Manage the end of month and end of year timetable, financial processes including assets, monthly journals, reconciliations and maintaining the general ledger.Manage monthly and annual actuals.Manage the preparation of the financial statements.Manage interim and final audit process.Contribute to business improvement strategies.Prepare accurate and timely responses to Questions on Notice and Senate Estimate Briefs.Assist in financial operations as needed.Build and sustain effective relationships with the team and actively manage and guide the junior Finance team members.Work collaboratively in a small team delivering financial services.Who we are looking forThe successful candidate will have the following:
Strong technical skills.High attention to detail and have a proven ability to deliver accurate and timely outcomes in a busy environment.Excel at building and maintaining relationships with a network of internal and external stakeholders.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to influence across a broad range of stakeholders.A high level of organisation with ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.Ability to work independently and problem solve.Desirable qualificationsThere are no mandatory qualifications for this role. However, the following are highly desirable:
Accounting qualification(s) (or working towards)Knowledge of the Australian Government financial frameworksExperienced in Microsoft products including Excel, Outlook and Word an accounting or equivalentCitizenshipTo be eligible for employment with the ANAO, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security ClearanceThe Australian community requires the highest level of integrity from ANAO employees. The preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Baseline level. Getting to know the Australian National Audit OfficeThe Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) is a specialist public sector entity that provides a full range of audit services to the Australian Parliament, the Australian Government and public sector entities. The 'Auditor-General Act 1997' provides the legislative framework for the role of the Auditor-General and the ANAO. The purpose of the ANAO is to drive accountability and transparency in the Australian Government sector through quality evidence-based audit services and independent reporting to Parliament, the Executive and the public, with the result of improving public sector performance. The Executive is accountable to Parliament for its use of public resources and the administration of legislation passed by the Parliament. The Auditor-General scrutinises and provides independent assurance as to whether the Executive is operating and accounting for its performance in accordance with Parliament's purpose.
