We are seeking an APS 5 Content Writer to work in the Community Engagement's Portal Team.
The Portal Team manages the design, development, maintenance and promotion of the Anzac Portal website. The website delivers commemorative, historical and educational resources to share with the broader community, to raise awareness of the diverse experiences of Australian military service.
The Portal Team supports others in Community Engagement and the wider department to deliver digital components of their commemorative work, providing user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, Drupal development, content strategy, content development, social media and professional guidance on website matters. The Portal Team also distributes the monthly Anzac Portal newsletter, responds to user feedback, and plans and delivers digital content projects to improve user experience on the website.
Under the supervision of the Senior Content Strategist, you will be responsible for the provision of specialist content and digital marketing support within the Portal Team and across Community Engagement.
As a content writer with at least one year of experience, you will create and edit human-centred digital text. You will conduct research around topics and audiences, identify content gaps, use search engine optimisation (SEO), style guides and accessibility guidelines. You may have some specialist skills in technical, scientific or instructional writing or simplifying complex information for optimal consumption by users.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, good research skills, proficient editing experience and be able to manage a variety of competing demands.
A tertiary qualification related to communication is desirable for this role. Specialist training in content writing and editing is also desirable.
Duties Eligibility This recruitment process is being used to fill ongoing and/or non-ongoing position/s. For more information about the role, please see the Candidate Information Pack.
Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 23 months.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
