Location: Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney Position Type: Ongoing Salary: $82,403 - $101,745 About the role Crime is not constrained by international dimensions - the threat to Australia from Transnational Serious and Organised Crime continues to grow.
The size of financial rewards, collaboration between global networks and the exploitation of emerging technologies by Serious Organised Crime Groups has increased the scale, complexity and reach of these crime groups.
Intelligence Analysts at the ACIC make a leading contribution to combating Transnational Serious and Organised Crime.
Your role will include the development, planning, collection and production of unique and incisive intelligence products that drive ACIC intelligence activities and are responsive to partner agency operational outcomes.
You will coordinate and focus intelligence collection and analysis using the ACIC Core Capabilities of Advanced Analytics, Coercive Powers, Covert Collection and Intelligence Analysis and Assessments.
Your work will involve collaboration with other professionals in police, border, regulatory and intelligence agencies in Australia and overseas.
Over the course of your career you may work across several different threat areas, from illicit drugs to money laundering, cyber crime to government fraud and encrypted criminal communications.
The ACIC currently has Intelligence Analyst vacancies at the APS5 and APS6 levels.
Key Responsibilities APS 5 The skills, knowledge, and experience required to successfully perform this role include:  Demonstrated experience in a tactical or operational intelligence environment including knowledge of intelligence processes, methodologies and techniques Demonstrated ability to carry out complex intelligence projects involving research and analysis, high level problem solving and the ability to contribute strongly to strategic thinking to maximise work linkages and opportunities  Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and support complex working relationships through collaboration and information sharing Well-developed liaison, interpersonal, flexibility, and negotiation skills, including the ability to work independently and positively influence a team environment to promote innovation and achieve results.
Key Responsibilities APS 6 The skills, knowledge, and experience required to successfully perform this role include:  Demonstrated experience and leadership in a tactical or operational intelligence environment including knowledge of intelligence processes, methodologies and techniques Demonstrated ability to carry out and initiate complex intelligence projects involving research and analysis, high level problem solving and the ability to contribute strongly to strategic thinking to maximise work linkages and opportunities  Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and support complex working relationships through collaboration and information sharing and anticipate the needs of partners and stakeholders Well-developed people management skills including strong liaison, interpersonal, flexibility, and negotiation skills, including the ability to set clear performance standards that positively influence a team environment to promote innovation and achieve results.
Our ideal candidate To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes: Demonstrated commitment to act with integrity, strive for excellence and seek out innovation Experience in intelligence collection and techniques, analysis of complex information and applying strategic thinking to produce intelligence insights in written and oral form to a range of stakeholders Demonstrated high degree of information and data literacy skills.
This will include the core systems of the ACIC as well as artificial intelligence tools, digital analysis and software applications Ability to develop a range of unique and incisive intelligence products that are responsive to partner and stakeholder agency needs and support partners to achieve operational outcomes Adept at working with others and the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships which promote information sharing and a common sense of purpose Ability to develop and maintain awareness of the Transnational Serious Organised environment to identify threats, crime enablers, networks and nationally significant Serious and Organised Crime An understanding of Serious Financial Crime would be beneficial (for some positions).
Essential qualifications  Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or thematic knowledge of serious and organised crime and the factors that drive, enable and influence crime Hold or ability to obtain a minimum national security clearance Negative Vetting Level 1 Ability to complete the ACIC Criminal Intelligence Development Program.
Desirable qualifications  2+ years' experience in an intelligence role, preferable within a serious and organised crime environment.
Eligibility Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity.
Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
Pre-Employment Screening – All candidates must satisfy an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to being offered employment at the ACIC.
