Location: Adelaide, Canberra Position Type: Ongoing Salary: $82,403-$101,745 About the role As a Firearms Capability Officer with the National Firearms Program, you are responsible for a range of activities related to the Australian Firearms Information Network (AFIN) and National Firearms Identification Database (NFID).
This includes responding to user enquiries, providing advice and managing access and change requests.
The APS6 Firearms Capability Officer takes a lead role in prioritising the work of the team.
Key responsibilities: Provide secretariat support for the quarterly AFIN User Advisory Group.
Group inbox support for two policing information systems including, prioritisation, assistance and management of defects, and enhancements across business systems.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to business services.
Contribute to the development of briefs, presentations and reports.
General administrative support.
Develop and maintain knowledge of Australian firearm regulation, firearm types and emerging technology.

Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
A proficiency for problem solving, applying judgement and common sense.
Experience in or the ability to provide administrative support to a multi-agency committee.
Flexible, with proven organisational and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities.
Demonstrated experience in Microsoft applications, inbox management and the ability to quickly learn new IT systems and applications.
APS 6 – Firearms Capability Officer To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes: Experience in managing a team, including maintaining a productive and positive team culture.
Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated skills in clear and effective verbal and written communication, and the provision of advice to senior leadership.
A proficiency for problem solving, based on sound judgement and evidence.
Experience in supporting a multi-agency committee, or, transferrable skills that would enable you to successfully perform this task.
Flexible, with proven organisational and time management skills, including the ability to manage or escalate competing priorities.
An ability to quickly learn new skills, and support other team members to increase their skills, knowledge and capability.
Demonstrated experience in Microsoft applications, inbox management and the ability to quickly learn new IT systems and applications.
Desirable qualifications and experience  Experience working in a government environment is desirable.
