APS 4 - NNTT Project Officer - Post Determination Assistance (PDA)This vacancy is advertised as an 'Affirmative Measure – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment'. Position Overview The Project Officer performs an important frontline role in supporting the delivery of the NNTT's post-determination assistance. The NTA enables the NNTT to assist native title holders and registered native title bodies corporate (RNTBCs) to address native title issues that arise after a native title determination is made. Under the direction of the Manager, Strategic Capability & PDA, the Project Officer will support PDA team members to respond to requests for assistance, record information about assistance requests, provide access to information about the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, and provide administrative and case management support to Tribunal mediators and facilitators.
The Project Officer will be responsible for scheduling preliminary conferences, arranging meetings, sending correspondence, and maintaining the PDA team's matters register to assist with workflow, document management, and to inform the collation of reports. Establishing and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons and organisations, is central to the role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Provide administrative, research and project management support in the provision of NNTT assistance under s 60AAA to the Director (Dispute Resolution & Assistance), Manager (Strategic Capability & PDA), Senior Project Officers – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander PDA, and collaborate with the NNTT Enquiries Team.Work cross-culturally, by building and maintaining ongoing relationships with native title holders, RNTBCs, and Native Title Representative Bodies/Service Providers.Undertake preliminary research and analysis in relation to native title determinations and RNTBC activities.Draft file notes and background research documents to support mediators in their provision of post-determination assistance.Work to timeframes, priorities, and objectives in consultation with members of the PDA team.Work collaboratively with other NNTT officers nationwide to support the provision of NNTT assistance to native title holders.Contribute to the development of practice and procedure, including effective administrative processes.Manage the registering and data entry of assistance requests and enquiries.Maintain records within the records management and electronic mailbox systems.Provide project management support to the PDA team and other NNTT teams, as required.Selection Criteria: Ability to work comfortably and effectively cross-culturally, including discussing sensitive issues.Ability to initiate research and prepare background and file notes for relevant stakeholders.Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a willingness to learn and adapt.Ability to organise logistical and technical arrangements for meetings.Ability to work across teams to share and exchange information.Demonstrated ability to manage and meet deadlines.Eligibility: Australian citizenship.Security and character clearance.Successful applicants will be subject to a probation period.Interested candidates who have received a redundancy benefit from an APS agency are welcome to apply.Diversity and Inclusion: Federal Court Australia is committed to supporting an inclusive and diverse workforce and welcomes applications from various backgrounds.
