APS 4 - Legal Associate - Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) This position is within the Federal Circuit and Family Court of AustraliaThis position is within the Federal Circuit and Family Court of AustraliaPurpose of positionThis position is primarily responsible for the provision of services directly to the judiciary in specific locations and the public both locally (face to face) and/or nationally (as part of a dispersed national team).The Federal Circuit & Family Court of Australia (Division 1) is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, highly legally credentialled person to take up the role as legal associate with the Hon Justice Josh Wilson KC. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and highly organised with highly developed research skills in the field of equity, trusts, company law, securities, taxation, contract law, land law and arbitration. The role calls for a hands-on involvement in the day-to-day operation of the Major Complex Financial Proceedings List and, to a lesser extent, aspects of the National Arbitration List. The successful candidate will also be involved in assisting His Honour in the conduct of trials and appeals. The successful candidate must possess highly developed inter-personal skills and the ability to work in a small team. Ideally, the successful candidate should aspire to practise as a barrister-at-law.Key Responsibilities and DutiesThe occupant of this position:QualificationsIt is a mandatory that candidates have completed (or near completed) a qualification in law.Selection CriteriaAbility to undertake research (including on-line research) and prepare reports and written correspondence.Sound organisational skills including the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure in a team environment.Well-developed interpersonal skills including tact, discretion, initiative and the ability to communicate effectively with members of the judiciary, the legal profession, the public and other court staff.Ability to operate computer-based equipment and associated word processing and other software.Knowledge, or ability to acquire knowledge, of Family Court functions, the organisation, practices, procedures and terminology.Contact OfficerFor more information please contact Rachelle Lombardo via telephone 0447 248 599 or email ****** to applyTo apply, please complete the application form on the Court's careers portal.
