We also commemorate eligible veterans who survived war service, but who later died from service-related injuries or conditions.As an agent of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), we maintain war cemeteries, individual war graves and memorials for members of the Commonwealth forces who died during the First and Second World Wars.The Office of Australian War Graves, Trade Services Coordinator is based at depots within all states and territories in Australia. Under the direction of the State Operations Manager, the Trade Services Coordinator is responsible for supporting all OAWG care and maintenance activities in the State or Territory and provide specialist operational support to other OAWG Depots. This requires the programming of work for staff and contractors to carry out horticultural and structural maintenance and the management of minor projects. The OAWG assets include war cemeteries, Gardens of Remembrance, and numerous official commemorations in general cemeteries throughout Australia.DutiesUndertake a range of trade level horticultural works including cultivation, pruning, recognising and treating plant diseases and pests.Perform duties under limited supervision in remote locations, including working independently as directed.Provide appropriate guidance, support and mentoring to staff and contractors in order to achieve service delivery standards.Operate plant, machinery and vehicles.Carry out/oversee structural works such as minor landscape construction, stonemasonry, concreting and memorial maintenance tasks.Operate and maintain necessary systems for recording and controlling computer data input into the WGS.Contribute to the planning, allocation and monitoring of team tasks and motivation of the overall workforce including contractors.Implement and monitor WH&S policies and procedures.Provide support to the State Operations Manager and Deputy Operations Manager in the administration of the work program and supervision of staff and contractors.Provide point of contact for enquiries from the general public, ex-service organisation, contractors and cemetery authorities.EligibilityUnder section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance.The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.Candidates applying under the affirmative measure provision must provide confirmation of their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.The Trade Services Officer is required to have a minimum Certificate III in Horticulture (or like field) and current driving licence.Location: Rookwood, NSW – Springvale, VIC – Hobart, TAS – Nedlands, WAContact Officer: Allison Hourigan 0431 811 270 ****** recruitment process is being used to fill ongoing and/or non-ongoing position/s.
