APS3 & APS4 Payroll Officers $66,233 to $80,895 + 15.4% superannuation12 month non-ongoing contractNational Police Check About the role
The payroll officer works within the payroll team who are responsible for day-to-day payroll processing, including salary and entitlement calculations, within a medium sized agency comprising of staff engaged under the Public Service Act 1999 (Cth) and through statutory appointments governed by the Remuneration Tribunal.

The role is responsible for the undertaking payroll processing that is non-complex in nature, under general direction, utilising functional expertise. Where complex processing occurs, support from higher classifications will be provided.

Key position responsibilities: Ability to interpret, advise to staff on salaries, calculate entitlements, leave and general conditions in line with the Enterprise Agreement and related legislation, policies and procedures.Participates in decision making relating to the area of responsibility and identifies stakeholders that may be impacted by work.Takes responsibility to organise own workflow and is accountable for the completion of allocated tasks, seeking assistance from supervisor where required.Conduct research and analysis, providing recommendations based on evidence and suggests improvements to work tasks and business practices.Identifies learning opportunities and communicates areas of strengths to engage constructively in ongoing professional expertise and development with supervisor.Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time to time.The APS4 Payroll Officer may be required to mentor, coach and identify training needs for a team. About You As the APS3 or APS4 Payroll Officer, you will: Have the ability to communicate effectively while liaising with stakeholders, providing accurate advice and assisting to resolve issues across a geographically dispersed network.Effective time management skills, ability to work under general direction, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines seeking support from supervisor where required.Ability to display resilience and positivity while working under pressure.Demonstrated personal integrity whilst delivering solution-oriented outcomes within legislative and policy parameters.Desirable: Knowledge, or ability to acquire knowledge of payroll, workforce reporting and/or general HR practices, polices, procedures and practices.Experience with Aurion and TechOne.
