APAC Labour and Employment Lawyer (Australia based) Corporate Functions
Apple is looking for a senior employment lawyer to join its Global Labour and Employment Law team to provide world-class support to Apple People Team, the business, and other stakeholders in Australia and the Asia Pacific region ("APAC"). This lawyer will be based in Apple's Sydney office. The areas of responsibility will initially cover Apple Australia business and employment and labour matters, then gradually expand to multiple jurisdictions in APAC over time.
Description
Be a trusted legal partner to the People Business Partner and Employee/Labour Relations ("ELR") organizations and the business navigating a broad range of labour issues, such as enterprise agreement negotiations, industry awards, collective bargaining, managing union relationships, and FWC applications.
Advise on a variety of employment matters including hiring and recruiting, discipline, investigations, wages and hours, accommodations, terminations, workforce restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions. Work with internal partners to achieve legal compliance and meet regulatory requirements.
Investigate and respond to demand letters and administrative or governmental inquiries and investigations. Work with outside counsel on FWC applications, litigations, and discrimination claims.
Formulate and revise standard terms and conditions of employment and People policies, advise on employee consultation and government filing requirements.
Responsible for preparing and conducting employment and labour law training programs for People team and management.
Contribute to knowledge sharing, expertise, and skills to assist in improving decision making in employment and labour law issues in the region.
Minimum Qualifications
Australia qualified lawyer with relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal team.
Significant experience in providing advice to multi-national organizations, with proven ability to match legal expertise to commercial business context.
Strong and effective relationship management.
Excellent knowledge of federal and state labour and employment laws and regulations.
Experience of enterprise agreement negotiations/collective bargaining.
Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
Willingness to travel.
Exposure to APAC regional matters would be useful but not essential, but an interest in working across the APAC region is a pre-requisite.
