The work area The roles sit within the GST branch of the Revenue and Intergovernmental Relations Directorate, which is part of the Economic business unit. The GST branch frequently consults with and develops submissions to the Commonwealth Grants Commission to ensure Western Australia maintains its fair share of GST, as well as providing advice to Government on the State's GST grants.
The opportunity The roles offered are a unique opportunity to make a difference to the State of Western Australia by providing important GST analysis and advice to help defend the 2018 GST distribution reforms. You will undertake research to develop evidence-based arguments as inputs to State submissions to the Productivity Commission (PC) Review of the 2018 GST reforms, while working closely with, and under the direction of, the GST Project Director. The positions will also work closely with the existing GST team, who will support your analysis for the PC Review.
Analyst (Level 5) Undertake evidence-based analysis of economic issues related to the distribution of GST among the States and Territories. Research, analyse and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data to develop an evidence base to inform the Productivity Commission. Work closely with the Project Director and others within the team in achieving deliverables and outcomes. Senior Analyst (Level 6) Lead the preparation and coordination of evidence-based analysis of economic issues in relation to the distribution of GST among the States and Territories. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build relationships. Lead proactively and share knowledge within the team to assist them in achieving their goals and organisational outcomes. We have two fixed-term full-time positions (1x Level 5 and 1x Level 6) available for filling for 2 years with the possibility of extension or permanency.
