The Companies and Small Business team is primarily responsible for ASIC's role in relation to the regulation and supervision of companies and small business to ensure sector adherence with the laws administered by ASIC and the promotion of market integrity.The team's role is focused on corporate governance conduct and disclosure, financial reporting and audit quality, conduct of registered liquidators, and engagement with the small business sector.The Companies and Small Business team conducts proactive surveillance and monitoring, considers applications for relief from legislative requirements, provides support to regulatory reform activities, and actively engages with relevant stakeholders to understand and respond to current and emerging industry issues.The role
EL1 – from $123,444 + 15.4% superannuation: candidates with minimum 5-6 years' relevant experience.As an Analyst or Lawyer you will be accountable for:Undertaking risk-based supervision across the sector and participating in thematic reviews of harms or problems to develop appropriate solutions to regulatory issues.Assessing applications for relief from the legislation administered by ASIC.Conducting assessments of governance practices and risks across the sector.Supporting the implementation of policy and law reform.Liaising and engaging with internal and external stakeholders on regulatory issues and encouraging improvements of industry best practice.Coordinating the collection of and analysing data and other information.
Identifying new ways to leverage data to deliver priorities.Maintaining ASIC's regulatory framework resources and intellectual property toolkit that includes relevant legislative references, reporting requirements, domestic and international developments, and best industry practice models.Working collaboratively with other teams within ASIC on a broad range of enforcement and compliance matters.About you
A relevant tertiary qualification and membership of a relevant professional body.Experience assessing, challenging, and authenticating complex information, and making sound regulatory judgements.A strong understanding of analysing quantitative and qualitative data.Experience presenting information to different audiences through strong business writing and verbal communication.Drafting clear, accurate analysis and advice on complex matters, including practices, and policy as relevant to financial services and ASIC's regulatory environment.Strategic thinking, analytical, investigative and research skills, including data analysis and presentation.An ability to forge strategic relationships to ensure the effective use of all available data and information opportunities.Experience assessing, verifying, and challenging complex information, and making sound regulatory judgements.Ability to understand priorities and adjust work schedule to meet deadlines and ensure the delivery of effective and timely outcomes.Strong writing and editing skills including the ability to distil key messages.About ASIC
