Alternate UG Manager
who is not afraid of a challenge and is passionate about making a difference to support the
UG Manager
with leading the
Paulsens Underground Mine Start Up !
About the Opportunity
Being the right-hand to the UG Manager, this position supports the UG Manager, overseeing day-to-day activities and providing statutory coverage during rostered breaks and periods of absence of the Manager.
This position requires someone prepared to be both hands-on and strategic, to meet safety, production, and cost targets.
Initial focus
- support the UG Manager to prepare the UG for operational readiness, working with the technical team to generate, maintain and optimise practical mine designs and plans.
Build culture
– whilst an initial team of highly experienced and engaged operators, maintainers and technical team members are on site, this position will assist in recruiting the remaining UG team members playing a significant role in building trust and shared values.
Fully operational
- provide direction and oversee all day-to-day aspects of the
owner-operated
UG operation, ensuring safety and optimisation is sought in all activities, to achieve production and financial targets.
About You
Key to success will be through you establishing and maintaining a collaborative approach with not only the UG Mining Team but with other teams across site.
Therefore, leading with a collaborative attitude, encouraging knowledge sharing, and being visible, caring, engaged and able to act with humility is a must!
Additionally, you need to have the below:
Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.
WA Underground First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.
Experience in a mechanised hard rock UG mine, preferably gold, at the operational level, including air leg, long hole open stope, narrow vein and room and pillar mining methods.
Strong technical background with experience in leading underground mine planning, ventilation, geotechnical, drill blast, capital justifications, and infrastructure projects.
Skills and knowledge in risk management, safety and environmental systems and legislative and statutory requirements within an underground mining environment.
Proficiency with mining software, preferably Deswik and Ventsim.
Experience working for a similarly sized company and/or an understanding of limitations and constraints and a requirement to be hands-on, that provides challenges and opportunities, whilst growing a junior company is desirable.
Overall, you consider yourself as a confident and highly capable and motivated performer and are looking to enter an environment where you can make an impact and grow your leadership skills.
