Akkodis is looking for a Lead Design Manager to join our State Government Client based in Adelaide.
Responsibilities: Manage a team of Design Managers to provide a high-quality engineering service relating to all aspects of technical risk and delivery whilst delivering a small number of engineering multi-disciplinary projects. Maintain the integrity of the Corporate Compliance Framework by adhering to all organizational and legal obligations, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 and its Regulations. Build and lead an effective team. Build and maintain a strong, constructive working relationship with direct reports, focused on achieving business goals and enabling staff to work safely to their full potential. Set effective baseline conditions for productive work by completing important people management processes of selection, induction, assessment, and recognition of performance. Hold quality conversations providing relevant and timely feedback and invest in the development of our people to build capability. Work collaboratively with Senior Portfolio Engineers and other Lead Design Managers to leverage collective capability, make timely and robust decisions, and deliver to meet commitments. Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement to build a culture of service excellence. Put safety above all else: Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others. Ensure compliance with SA Water's Safety in Design (SID) process. Consult with the designer(s) SFAIRP about how to ensure health and safety risks arising from design during construction are eliminated or minimized. Ensure team compliance with SA Water and Engineering safety and wellbeing processes and initiatives. Demonstrate safety leadership in role modelling the safety behaviors and culture defined by the Engineering Safety Framework. Be a multi-disciplinary design manager to lead technical teams in delivering consistent, best-for-business, accurate, and timely technical information/outputs across SA Water. Effective utilization of Float to manage team/individual workloads and the allocation of effective resources to meet the risk and complexities of programs and projects. Ensure effective conversations with Manager Delivery and direct reports to identify and facilitate the development of design management capability within the team. Achieve effective team design delivery and provide evidence of meeting identified milestones, considering other business needs including water quality, stakeholder relations, security, WHS, etc. Develop understanding and use of SAW's Safety in Design Standard, and display evidence of team compliance in relation to designs, project deliverables, and technical documentation. Customer Service: Work with the wider Engineering team and key business partners to develop and resource accurate scopes of work, in the timely development of cost and work breakdown structures for multi-disciplinary projects. Ensure programs and projects are delivered within allocation budgets and timeframes, and in accordance with the multi-disciplinary design process. Keep clients up to date with project progress and costs to date via regular reports. People and Culture: Work closely with the Manager Engineering Delivery to create a personal development plan for self and team members with clear milestones and measurables for success. Maintain effective relationships and communication with Senior Portfolio Engineers and other Lead Design Managers. Develop and maintain effective communication with the extended Engineering team and key stakeholders. Support a knowledge-sharing culture across the Corporation.
