King Island Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Airport Manager to oversee the operations and management of King Island Airport. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and smooth running of a critical transport hub in one of Australia's most stunning regional locations.As the Airport Manager, you will hold a crucial leadership position within the Council, responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of King Island Airport. You will ensure the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of the airport, overseeing day-to-day activities, managing staff, and developing operational strategies. Your role will also involve maintaining regulatory and safety standards, managing stakeholder relationships, and facilitating growth opportunities to ensure high service levels for passengers, airlines, and airport users.We're looking for a candidate with a background in airport management or a related field, who has experience in leadership and operational roles. You will need a sound understanding of aviation regulations and the ability to navigate and manage compliance in a regulated environment. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders are essential. Experience in regional or remote settings would be an advantage.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the daily operations of King Island AirportEnsure compliance with aviation safety and regulatory requirementsDevelop and implement operational and business strategiesManage relationships with airlines, government agencies, and the local communityLead, mentor, and develop airport staffAn attractive total remuneration package of around $170K per annum is offered and negotiable to the right person. This includes a base salary of $115,000, superannuation at 11.5%, and housing with a rental value of $20,800. You will also be provided with a motor vehicle for private use as well as a mobile phone and laptop.
