Aircrew Officer or Training and Checking Aircrew Officer Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a not-for-profit organisation providing world-class aeromedical, search and rescue services to those in need 24/7. With almost 50 years of proud history, we operate from three bases in NSW (Tamworth, Belmont, Lismore) in addition to a Head Office and Deep Level Maintenance (DLM) facility based in Broadmeadow. About the position The Service is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Aircrew Officers/Training and Checking Aircrew Officers to join our highly skilled team conducting helicopter aeromedical and search and rescue operations to the highest standard of safety and professionalism.
Based in Belmont, Tamworth, or Lismore, our Aircrew Officers report to the Chief Aircrew Officer and operate on a 4:4 (2 day/2 night) roster pattern. Trainers report to our Head of Training and Checking and operate on a hybrid roster. Successful candidates must live within 1 hour of their nominated home base and be willing to travel to other bases across northern NSW to support operational requirements.
About You To be considered for these roles, you will be a qualified Aircrew Officer with a minimum of 500 hours experience and well regarded within the industry. In addition, you will:
Demonstrate completion of aircrew IFR theory, down the wire training, HUET training, CRM training, communication and radio procedures training; Meet the requirements of a CASA Class 2 medical; Hold a senior first aid and advanced resuscitation certificate; Hold a working with children check and relevant drivers licence. While not essential, SAR/HEMS experience, completion of practical IFR examination, dangerous goods training, NVG qualification, winch endorsement, and bronze medallion would be highly regarded.
For the role of Training and Checking Aircrew Officer, in addition to the above criteria, you will need to demonstrate a minimum of 1000 hours as an ACO in EMS operations, hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and have previous experience in a leadership capacity.
