We are seeking an AHP2 Speech Pathologist to provide Home Rehabilitation Services and help make a difference! As a member of the Ambulatory Rehabilitation team, the Speech Pathologist ensures optimal care and outcomes through comprehensive speech pathology services for patients receiving supported early discharge and home rehabilitation in the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.
Utilizing technology like videoconferencing, the Speech Pathologist also provides specialist services to rural and remote areas of South Australia, adopting a rehabilitative approach aligned with the "Statewide Rehabilitation Clinical Network Rehabilitation Generic Core Competencies Framework." The Speech Pathologist collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, other professionals, and organizations to plan and provide therapeutic interventions based on patient goals, while also managing service procedures, facilitating research, and leading quality improvement projects.
About the role: Reporting to the Director, Speech Pathology RAP and the Service Manager - Home Rehabilitation, some of your duties as the AHP2 Speech Pathologist may involve: Assessing patients' communication and/or swallowing abilities, problems and goals using a variety of formal and informal assessments including use of instrumentation, e.g.
Modified Barium Swallow with supervision as needed.
Devising therapy programs and supervising therapy assistants in their implementation of these.
Providing Speech Pathology services to Home, Outreach and Telerehabilitation patients including using a broad range of technologies including i Pads, videoconferencing equipment and therapeutic apps.
About you: An appropriate degree or diploma in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
Experience as a clinician in the assessment and provision of high quality rehabilitation to patients with a variety of complex communication and/or swallowing issues or neurological, medical or surgical origin.
Ability to provide clinical Speech Pathology services to Ambulatory Rehabilitation as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Ability to critically analyse or evaluate issues related to Speech Pathology care in a manner which can be applied to quality activities, service evaluation, professional education or research with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
