AGL has an opportunity for an In House Counsel - Gippsland Skies to join and help to deliver AGL's first offshore wind farm.
The function of this role is to lead a team that is developing low carbon generation growth opportunities and is therefore critical to AGL's purpose.

Contribute to the development and execution of AGL's energy transition strategy by managing the commercial and strategic workstreams of AGL's low carbon generation growth opportunities including potential acquisitions, and the disciplined development of existing generation project opportunities.
The proposed Gippsland Skies project will be developed in a phased approach, enabling it to contribute to a sustainable project pipeline and the long-term growth of the offshore wind industry in Australia.
The full potential of the project could deliver 2.5 GW to Victoria's electricity network, enough power for approximately 1.4 million homes.
Key accountabilities of this role Project and Commercial Management Advising on and drafting of Project strategy including in relation to development, stakeholder engagement, offtake, etc Advising on and negotiating commercial terms with suppliers Managing procurement and contract negotiation Budget, Finance and Insurance Drafting and oversight of Annual Work Program and Budget in close collaboration with Project Director Managing the process to obtain decisions from the Board and Shareholders Managing the insurance strategy and its implementation Policy, Regulation and Stakeholder Management Providing expertise on policy and regulation Supporting the Heads of Department and Project Director on stakeholder and government engagement Managing office / corporate / employment set up and implementation Implementing, monitoring and enforcing corporate governance processes across the team Maintaining relationship with Project Company shareholders, including oversight of shareholder reporting and resolution of ad hoc shareholder queries Ownership of Corporate, Legal & Compliance budget (encompassing all general corporate matters) Representing the Project in key stakeholder meetings and with members of the public and key suppliers Managing and preparation of corporate annual report and representing the Project in front of regulatory authorities Collaborating closely with the Project Director on all key activities, risks and opportunities for the Project Qualifications, key skills and experience required
The successful candidate will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Understanding of the OEM and contractor market for the development and construction of utility-scale generation projects. Understanding of energy markets and value drivers for large scale generation projects, in particular renewables and storage. Experience: Ideally experienced in the development or negotiation of large-scale renewable generation projects, including wind, pumped hydro or storage. Minimum 10 years' experience in power industry and/or similar commercial roles. Understanding of NEM rules and connection requirements for projects. Exposure to development process from concept to investment commitment. Qualifications: Bachelor or post-graduate level tertiary qualifications preferred, preferably in at least one of Finance, Commerce, Law or Engineering. Negotiating very high value commercial agreements Managing numerous internal and external stakeholders Negotiating with network service providers Managing multiple projects concurrently Budget accountability & decision-making authority
The key responsibility of the role is to manage the commercial strategy and negotiation for procurement contracts to support the business cases for projects in the range $100 to $1,500+ million that are able to be presented to the AGL board for investment approval.
