We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.About the RoleAs an Aged Care Home & Community Assistant, you will provide personalised home care support to older Australians who reside on the Cassowary Coast, ranging from suburbs Tully to Babinda to assist them to remain living independently in their home. This is a casual opportunity, these hours will be between 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday with no evening, weekend or sleepover shifts. Flexible hours available that can be between school hours or other commitments if ResponsibilitiesDomestic assistance duties including light cleaning, changing of bed linen, washing/ supports inclusive of meal preparation and assistance with daily living.Social supports including support to attend medical appointments, social activities in the local community, and building/maintaining social networks.Personal care including showering, daily hygiene, and monitoring health and well-being (for example, identification of wound care needs, skin integrity, etc).Skills & ExperienceCertificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or similar) or prior industry experience required.Passionate about making a positive impact in our ageing Australian Driver's Licence and ownership of a registered vehicle.Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (must be obtained prior to employment).Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
