About the Portfolio The Operations Portfolio enables an integrated, enterprise-wide delivery for best practice student and staff experiences.
The Portfolio incorporates the following business units: Enterprise Projects & Business Performance, Human Resources, Information and Technology Services, Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Procurement and Property Services Group (PSG).
The Portfolio houses significant drivers and delivery components across the staff and student journeys and enables the overall experience for both groups.
The Portfolio is integral in bringing the RMIT strategy to life, across the globe.
Each of these functions supports the global operations of the University both directly as well as through its controlled entities.
PSG has approximately 115 staff and has the responsibility to operate, maintain and enhance the buildings owned and leased by RMIT University, oversee construction projects and ensure the provision of physical facilities services.
The Group has an operating budget in excess of $70M and prospective capital projects of over $70M per annum for the next few years.
RMIT's built environment involves approximately 109 buildings in Melbourne spread across all of RMIT's campuses and sites.

For more information, please visit: www.rmit.edu.au/sustainability About the Role The Advisor, Sustainability, Carbon & Reporting works closely with the wider Sustainability Team to support the delivery of the University's commitment to sustainability with a specific focus on (but not limited to) utilities management, carbon management and resource efficiency.
The role is responsible for the development and oversight of all university-wide internal and external sustainability metrics and reporting requirements - both voluntary and compliance obligations.
The position is responsible for the strategic pathway to meet the University's carbon neutral commitments, including the implementation of the RMIT Carbon Management Plan, the tracking of emission reduction activities, development of emission inventories and offset methodologies.
The role is also responsible for tracking utilities data, budgets and forecasting and developing market approaches for utilities, power-purchase agreements and carbon offset strategies.
As the Advisor, Sustainability, Carbon & Reporting, you will be responsible for: Responsible for the development and oversight of all sustainability metrics and leads the compilation of all University-wide internal and external sustainability reports (regulatory and voluntary), including the Sustainability Annual Report and National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER).
Manage all utility budgets, including budget setting, forecasting, bill verification, and reporting.
Manage the market interface with utility supply contracts and associated services – including shutdowns, issue management, procurement activities, and contract negotiations – with responsibility for off-site power purchase agreements.
Devise and manage the University's carbon reduction pathways, including the development of inventories, offset methodologies, and third-party certification schemes.
Responsible for the update, coordination and tracking of key sustainability plans, particularly those relating to carbon, climate risk and water.
Engage with the Procurement Team and third-party suppliers to develop strategies for sustainability supply chain transparency and scope 3 emissions reductions in relation to RMIT activities.
Undertake communication and engagement activities (including student projects) to raise the profile of RMIT's sustainability credentials and support academic/research outcomes, with a focus on carbon and energy.
Build key relationships with other higher education institutions, local government and industry partners, representing RMIT on key external climate and sustainability-related projects.
Provide support and assistance to the Sustainability Team and wider Property Services Group as required.
About You You will have excellent data analysis and carbon accounting skills, with a considered, professional and proactive approach to leading change in a complex environment.
You have exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills, and can readily adapt your communication style to a diverse range of stakeholders and contexts.
To be successful in this position, you will have: Proven experience in carbon accounting and energy management within a complex property portfolio.
Demonstrated capability in data analysis, reporting, budgeting, and utilities market analysis.
Proven experience in sustainability metrics and reporting, including (but not limited to) Climate Active Certification, NGERs and the Global Reporting Initiative Standard.
Strong project management experience to deliver a range of sustainability initiatives.
Sound knowledge of sustainability and supply chains.
High levels of motivation and a proactive attitude to lead change in an evolving environment.
Demonstrated strong conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to think laterally to identify and execute innovative and creative solutions to achieve targets.
Ability to liaise with a diverse set of clients and stakeholders with the ability to promote change initiatives.
Excellent communication, facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills, and the ability to adapt these to a diverse range of contexts.
Excellent written communication skills with a proven ability to write high-quality technical documentation and well-considered strategic advice.
