and historic as the scenic routes we journey through!About the roleAs the Advisor - Environment & Heritage, you will not only preserve important heritage sites and mitigate environmental impacts but also champion sustainable travel initiatives.Your work will contribute to sustainable rail practices, ensuring that V/Line's operations align with environmental regulations and heritage preservation.Your expertise will guide significant asset management projects, fostering rewarding collaborations that leave a positive impact on our communities and ecosystems.Key accountabilities include:·Environmental Control and Planning: lead the identification of suitable environmental controls and oversee the development of Construction Environmental Plans (CEMPs).·Site Management: conduct site inspections and pre-start meetings, ensuring staff and contractors are well-versed with environmental controls, including legislations and CEMPs.·Compliance Inspection: perform regular site inspections to monitor and enforce adherence to environmental controls.·Onsite Support: offer hands-on guidance to staff regarding best practices in environmental management.·Post Construction Evaluation: execute thorough inspections post-construction to confirm all work has been completed satisfactorily and the site is properly restored.·Vegetation and Fire Prevention: provide expect advice on vegetation management and fire prevention across V/Line operations.·Reporting: Aid in crafting reports on environmental management at V/Line work sites and complete environmental investigation reports as necessary.·Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and disseminate environmental information to all pertinent stakeholders.·Awareness and Liaison: Enhance the understanding of environmental and heritage management among V/Line asset management staff and liaise with environmental and heritage regulators.About youYou will play a crucial role in shaping the environmental and heritage conservation strategies, ensuring sustainable development and protection of valuable ecosystems and cultural sites.You must be passionate about the environment, possess a strategic mindset, and be committed to upholding the highest standards of environmental ethics and heritage preservation.Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:·A strong understanding of environmental and heritage conservation, with at least three years of experience in environmental management, preferably within a government or related sector.·Proven ability to identify and effectively manage environmental risks, demonstrating a track record of successful project management in this field.·Strong engagement and consultant skills, capable of working with a wide variety of stakeholders, including local communities and regulatory bodies, to achieve consensus and compliance.·Ability to balance scientific research and data analysis with practical, on-the-ground conservation efforts.·Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex environmental issue to diverse audiences.·Demonstrated leadership in coordinating teams and guiding them towards achieving environmental and heritage protection goals.·A forward-thinker who can propose innovative solutions to environmental challenges and drive continuous improvement in heritage conservation practices.·Demonstrated alignment to V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.Qualifications ·Diploma or higher Environmental Sciences/Engineering or related discipline.Desirable ·Ability to identify native flora and fauna and vegetation communities.·Experience in contaminated land management.·Experience required to maintain a valid Working with Children Check Victoria (Employee) for the duration of employment.The salary package for this role is from $111,723 inclusive of superannuation.We're open to
