The Gadigal Centre is the University of Sydney's dedicated student centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, providing academic, pastoral and cultural support services to Indigenous students to help them achieve their full potential and graduate job-ready.
As an Advancement Officer at the Gadigal Centre, you will liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in study within the schools of Arts and Social Sciences at the University, supporting them in all aspects of university life.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Report to the Gadigal Centre Advancement Coordinator, and work in a team of 8.Provide learning guidance, information, advice, and case-management support to students.Coordinate and implement programs according to different faculties' needs.Facilitate student interaction with peers, mentors, and academics with shared interests and aspirations.Support the production of events and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.Liaise with others (Accommodation, Financial Assistance, Disability Services, etc.) to ensure services applicable to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander undergraduate students are culturally appropriate.About you Tertiary qualifications in any discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience required.Experience supporting students through the student life cycle.Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures.Demonstrated first-hand lived experience and engagement in Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities.An understanding of the issues affecting people in contemporary Australian society and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.Computer skills, including MS Office and CRM systems preferred.Experience working in tertiary education preferred, but not essential.Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply.
