Correctional centres are responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland.
People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres.
High security centres provide for the management of adult prisoners held in secure custody correctional centres across Queensland.
The Administration Officer Stores is required to assist with stores operations for the correctional centre and undertake related administration tasks.
This position has a level of prisoner contact through the provision of guidance and direction whilst prisoners are working in the Stores unit.
In this role you will: Process and monitor the acquittal and receipt of stores.Reconcile deliveries received by the centre and investigate anomalies.Maintain an efficient recording system of inward and outward consignments.Contribute to quality control, hygiene and security of stores and storage facilities.Process internal requisitions for stock items.Maintain the centre's computerised stock control inventory, records and system.Stocktake and warehouse processes.Assist with the unloading of trucks.Assist in the ordering and issue of corporate wardrobe.Monitor outstanding purchase orders for receipt of goods and services.Operate and maintain the centre's prisoner canteen.Perform sales to prisoner services as required.Process prisoner orders (buy-ups) received weekly and ensure they are filled and distributed to prisoner units across the centre.Oversee prisoners working within the stores facility (canteen) to ensure work is being performed in accordance with standard procedures and processes.Assist the prisoners packing orders for distribution and monitor appropriate stock and record keeping systems.Perform general administrative duties (telephone, customer service, archiving, word processing).Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of efficient and effective work systems.Ensure the confidentiality of all documentation handled and maintain a secure filing system.The essential requirements for this role are: Experience in stock control and warehouse/storage practices and procedures, including those required for flammable and/or toxic stores.Efficient time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks as demands arise and with competing priorities.Problem solving and ability to apply a range of problem solving strategies and show initiative in identifying and solving problems.Planning and organising abilities to ensure tasks are completed within the required deadlines and in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures.Knowledge of stock taking processes.Demonstrated ability to listen, understand and speak clearly to a wide range of audiences.Hazardous chemical handling.Well developed written and verbal communication skills with a focus on providing strong customer service.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
