The Opportunity There is an opportunity that has arisen that will see you joining the team as a Ward Clerk on our Surgical Ward.
This role will see you providing administrative support to the clinical team by coordinating the necessary clerical requirements for patients' admission to discharge.
You will also provide assistance to patients and their families during their stay in hospital.
You must be passionate about being in the front line dealing with the public, our patients, our staff and enjoy a varied and fast paced administration role.
About the Position You will be working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and clinical team in providing administrative support in order to assist in the smooth operation of the ward.
Some of the responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Handling enquiries from clinical staff, doctor's patients & their familiesChecking coverage of patients and ensuring all relevant documentation is complete and signedRevenue – Chasing up unsigned documentation relevant to the billing process and taking payments if applicable.Creating preadmissions for both inpatients & outpatients, admitting, discharging, transferring, data entry, running relevant reports etc.Medical records – requesting, tracking and collating patient charts.Your Skills and Experience Previous administrative experience in a hospital/medical setting desirableStrong understanding of medical terminology and health funds highly regardedA professional and personable dispositionStrong organisational skills and a keen eye for detailWillingness to learn and the ability to grasp concepts with easeExperience using Meditech is an advantageA professional phone manner with experience managing incoming and outgoing callsRemuneration On offer is base hourly rate of $32.44 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
