Location: Within schools, CBD and WFHCommencement Date: January 2025Closing Date: Monday, 11 November 2024Capacity: Full-time, 12-month contractAbout the RoleReporting to the Supervisor: Diverse Learning, the Acting Specialist: Personalised Learning offers high calibre advice, assistance, and operational support to schools and networks in response to the unique learning needs of students with disabilities and additional learning needs.The Specialist leads a team of expert Diverse Learning practitioners and is responsible for ensuring ongoing commitment to superior practice by all team members K-12, across all categories of disability.Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:leading in alignment with articulated Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) goals within the portfolio of Diverse Learningleading a pedagogical design framework built on a neuroscientific platform, inclusive of research-informed educational theories, based on NESA K-12 curriculum and incorporating contemporary instructional strategies and assessment practicesco-leading the large scale strategic implementation of integrating a range of assistive technologies into leaders' and teachers' practice to enhance learning opportunities for studentsinvestigating, promoting and leading professional learning in strengthening approaches to personalised learning for students with disabilityleading the work of a sector group team in competently facilitating all NCCD processes and constructing regular reports for various SCS stakeholders as requiredensuring all NCCD processes are central to the sector team's work and are seen as integral informants in creating targeted learning goals and carefully monitoring students' progressdesigning professional team development focused on NESA syllabus requirements K-12 and skilling team members to support a range of disability needs across cognitive, sensory, physical, social, and emotional disabilitycreating dynamic professional learning plans to support all sector team members to embrace and perform their roles as K-12 Diverse Learning practitionersleading the planning and implementation of school leader and teacher capacity-building professional learning and evaluating the impact of such initiatives within networksensuring that Diverse Learning support across SCS utilises a range of existing and emerging assistive technologies that expand students' educational opportunities and enhance functional independenceassisting and supporting Principals in their leadership responses to supporting students with disability.About YouTo be successful in this position, you must possess:a university Degree in Education or Teachinga NESA recognised teaching qualification with a major in Special Educationthe ability to demonstrate practice equivalent to Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachersa minimum of eight years of teaching experience in a schoolhighly effective system/school level leadership experiencecompetence in leading staff professional learningdemonstrated success in improving student outcomes and implementing school-wide initiativesexperience in using data analysis to inform educational decisionsdemonstrated ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contextsdemonstrated high-level written, oral and presentation skillsdemonstrated ability to work with sensitive and confidential informationa willingness to respect, support, and uphold the mission, ethos, and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of SCS.postgraduate degree in Special Education, Learning Difficulties or related disciplineknowledge of the Catholic Systemic Schools/Systemsa current driver's licence and access to a car.Why Work for Sydney Catholic SchoolsIn joining SCS, you will be part of the largest Catholic education community in NSW, with a unified vision and shared resources, encompassing over 145 schools and over 74,000 students.
