About us
Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state's energy system.
The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland's clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.
Purpose
Within Queensland Hydro's finance team, the key focus of the Accounts Payable Officer will be to provide quality financial, administrative and clerical support to the company. This will include ensuring that all financial transactions are processed and paid accurately and in a timely manner, in line with the financial management and governance policies and processes.
The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for reviewing and checking claims for payment and assists with the continuous improvement initiatives for the finance team. The Accounts Payable Officer will improve the documentation of processes and help build and develop the accounts payable function as the team and entity grows.
Key Responsibilities
Processing and validating the accuracy of invoices as well as matching these with the relevant purchase order (if applicable)
Inputting and coding invoices to Queensland Hydro specific cost centres and project codes
Facilitating the invoice approval process for payment
Assisting in the administration and processing of documentation and data collection relevant to the accounts payable function
Scheduling pay runs based on Queensland Hydro's standard company payment terms
Being the first point of contact for debtors seeking payment of outstanding invoices
Verifying and processing employee expense claims and managing the approval and payment process
Performing reconciliations including supplier statement reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, etc.
Supporting the month end process by providing supporting documentation for month end journals
Monitoring Corporate Banking activities and reconciling and receipting the receival of daily transactions
About you
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess;
Strong understanding of basic accounting and accounts payable principles
Proven ability to accurately calculate, post and manage financial records and data entry
Ability to build good relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors and suppliers
Ability to work as part of a broader team especially within a project team environment
High level of accuracy and attention to detail with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
Exposure to computer software (including excel) and accounting, purchasing and reporting systems
Strong commitment to process development and continual improvement
Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks while working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
An ability to work effectively within a smaller team in a developing environment, with a proactive approach to assisting the team to cover fluctuations in workloads when required
