Accountant Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join the finance team for one of our clients.
In this role, you will provide financial and administrative support while ensuring deadlines are met.
Your responsibilities will include preparing reconciliations, assisting with payroll, and supporting key financial processes such as month-end reporting and budgeting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Provide financial and administrative support to the finance team to ensure compliance with deadlines.Prepare and reconcile monthly concessions and manage fleet updates.Process insurance claims and assist in preparing EOM journals and balance sheet reconciliations.Perform bank receipt tasks and bank account reconciliations, including credit card and petty cash transactions.Assist in month-end reporting, annual budget preparation, and monthly cash forecasts.Assist with payroll processing, including timesheets, payroll tax, superannuation, and WorkCover.Support cost modelling, tender processes, and project implementations.Provide backup support for team members during periods of leave.Perform other ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as required. About You: To succeed in this role, you will need: The right to work in Australia.A degree in accounting or commerce with aspirations to complete CA/CPA (or currently undertaking).At least 1 year of hands-on accounts experience within a finance department or a minimum of 2 years in Australia with overseas experience.Proficiency in Excel with experience in GP, MicroPay, or similar accounting systems.Experience in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and project costing models.Knowledge of the bus services or transportation industry (highly desirable).Strong attention to detail, timeliness, and adaptability.A proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn.The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
