Job Description
As a Bell Captain, you will lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Bell Desk team. You will also train and coach the team in being the best-in-class first point of contact for guests, providing exceptional service and assistance with their luggage and transportation needs. You will play a key role in creating memorable experiences for our guests by delivering a warm and efficient service from arrival to departure.
Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service Ensure all guests are greeted, acknowledged, and being taken care of. Assign daily tasks and duties to the team through the day Assign and ensure breaks are taken during each shift Perform administrative duties as assigned Attend meetings as needed Work with group contacts to ensure a smooth and seamless convention Main contact for room drops Maintain and ensure department follows hotel guidelines Follow up on all VIP transportation requests Perform all duties of the bell attendant. Responsible for the delivery to the room of Guest's luggage, messages and any other items for delivery within the Hotel Engage warmly with guests whilst escorting them to their room Ensure the timely and efficient transfer of luggage to and from the guest's room Ensure the guest is familiar with their room upon arrival (orientation, temperature control, etc…) Maintain a presence in the Lobby when not delivering luggage to guest rooms, offering assistance to Guests and answering questions in a helpful and informative way Provide information and recommendations about local attractions, restaurants, and transportation options. Ensure all guests arriving by vehicle on the front drive or departing from the hotel are assisted. Coordinate with valet for outstanding arrival and departure experiences. Assist guests with storage of luggage. Monitor and ensure the security of guest belongings during transportation and storage. Follow safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe environment for guests and colleagues. Liaise with Front Office, Housekeeping, and other departments to fulfill guest requests promptly. Maintain effective communication with colleagues to ensure seamless guest experiences. Maintain accurate records of stored luggage and ensure security protocols are followed. Ensure that all areas of responsibility are kept neat and clean for our guests and colleagues. A knowledge of hotel services, activities, and hours of operations is required to ensure timeliness of customer needs, which would be outlined each day in a pre-shift briefing. Follow all hotel and Forbes/LQA standards of service. Conduct self-audits and participate in the feedback of audits conducted to improve service levels. Handle guest concerns and provide assistance and resolution Proudly be an ambassador of the property and the Fairmont brand Maintain regular and predictable attendance Other duties as assigned Qualifications
Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry required Previous customer related experience required High School graduate or equivalent required Strong customer service skills with a friendly and outgoing personality. Excellent communication skills and a professional presentation Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities Highly responsible & reliable Knowledge of local attractions, restaurants, activities, and transportation options is an advantage. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team and under minimal supervision Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times Must have ability to communicate well both verbally and written. Reading and counting is essential. Available to work shifts which include mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends, and holidays Additional Information
