Overview – Role Jensen Hughes is seeking an experienced Access Consultant to join our teams in Sydney and Melbourne. In this role, you will have the responsibility to deliver high quality access consulting services in a timely manner delivering projects, undertaking site inspections, reporting defects and managing workflow & output within client deadlines supporting all levels of management as well as assisting the Building Regulations Consultants, Assistant Building Regulations Consultants, and other junior team members.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual from a design background having knowledge of the Access requirements of the BCA, related Australian Standards, principles of Universal design and able to deliver high-quality cost-effective access consulting services in a timely manner under the supervision of the Directors and Managers.

Responsibilities Review, assess and provide recommendations of various stages of developments including out of scope works, on-site assessments and reports (from concept, DA, DD to CC), representing Jensen Hughes at site visits and client meetings.Undertake accessibility audits and appraisal of existing/ new buildings and other premises for access compliance and objects of the DDA.Assist colleagues and direct manager/team leader with technical input, tasks, QAs, any access related queries/concerns and assist with peer reviewing, training, and mentoring of junior staff as requiredProvide advice based on sound and logical interpretation of the Access provisions including but not limited to, Building Code of Australia (Parts D3 and H2, Clauses E3.6, F2.4, F2.9); Disability (Access to Premises – Building) Standards 2010; Livable Housing Design Standards and the relevant Australian Standards related to AS1428.1-2009, AS1428.4.1-2009, AS4299-1995, AS2890.6-2009, AS1735.12-1999 etc.Demonstrate a high-level understanding of Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (DSAPT); and SEPP Seniors Living 2004 (now amalgamated SEPP)Advice and interpret Livable Housing Design Standards and assist in the application of access regulations & applicable standards to projectSource your own clients, in addition to the work provided to you by Jensen Hughes and identify opportunities for new business market or clients consistently achieving a minimum monthly invoicing target.Prepare technical Access reporting throughout the design and development approvals process, including 'performance solution' reports and professional expert opinions effectively using resources and materials in design development, demonstrating meticulous attention to detailMaintain project files and records in line with established business management systemsPrepare competitive and comprehensive fee proposals tailored for each project to increase chance of winning in collaboration with administration teamBe familiar with the Company policies & procedures, ethical standards, relevant work health and safety requirements and ensure that any staff supervised abide by these policies, procedures and requirements in compliance with the country regulationsDemonstrate respect towards all team members, sharing knowledge and experience, and collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds, levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities always attending technical and staff meetingsRequirements and Qualifications Tertiary qualification in in a relevant field such as Architecture, Design, Human Movement/Health Science, Engineering, or Building Surveying training along with Certificate IV, Diploma in Access Consulting or equivalent demonstrated experience along with a design background and familiarity with the construction industry.Member of /Eligible for /Working towards the Association of Consultants in Access Australia (ACAA) Membership and demonstrable history of participating in an industry based continued professional development SchemeSound knowledge of the Environmental Planning, Assessment Act & Regulations, Home Building Act & Regulations and the Disability Discrimination Act & RegulationsInterested in Developing a knowledge of the Access requirements of the BCA, related Australian Standards and Principles of Universal Design under the supervision of the Directors and Managers.Experienced in accurate review & preparation of reports, letters and emails utilizing company templates and proformas where applicable, always adhering to regulatory requirements and ISO standardsManage the Key Responsibility Areas, taking full ownership of the assigned projects, setting priorities, creating a personal development plan and challenging behaviors that violate Jensen Hughes purpose, principles, policies, and proceduresHave client management experience and skills, to be further honed through coaching and supportHave a flexible approach to working hours which may include, from time to time, attending meetings after hours or on weekends or overnight travel to attend meetings or inspect buildings, while managing multiple project requirementsPersonal drive, results-orientated with a friendly, can-do attitude and a high level of honesty, integrity, commitment and responsibilityShould be an Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident or holding a valid Work Visa in AustraliaWhy you should join Jensen Hughes You will work with market-leading clients and have the backing of a leading international firmYou'll have support from the leadership team and given flexibility to work where and when you wantCareer advancement with an established framework is in place clearly defining expectations, outlining opportunities for promotion#LI-SG
