About the role Provide primary health care services to clients in the clinic and when on community and outreach visits. Ensure the focus of care is on the needs of Aboriginal clients within the context of their cultural identity and social circumstances. Work as part of the OVAHS team in providing a quality and client-focused environment. Essential: Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Primary Health Care by a Registered Training Organisation, current registration and Practicing Certificate as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with AHPRA, and Certificate 2 in Medications. Willing to apply for a Medicare Provider number for OVAHS. Current clinical assessment skills. Knowledge and understanding of the issues pertaining to the health of Aboriginal people in rural and remote areas and commitment to the principles of Primary Health Care. Demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. Demonstrate competent clinical practice, transferable to an Aboriginal Community Controlled PHC practice setting. Demonstrate knowledge of the Medicare Benefits Schedule and experience with billing Aboriginal Health Worker item numbers. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and intermediate level written and computing skills. Understanding of quality improvements and risk management within practice. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Able to work for short periods under extreme weather conditions when on outreach and community visits. A current National Police Clearance (within the last 30 days). An open Driver's license. Desirable: Previous experience in a primary health care facility. Training or certificates in Aboriginal Health Worker specialties e.g. chronic disease, renal, acute. What you can expect from working at OVAHS: Salary (Depending on skills and experience). Rental allowance - $6240 per annum. Aircon Subsidy included into the annual salary. 12-month Annual Airfare $1800 on continued service. 5 weeks accrued Annual leave.
