Director of Operations– Boorloo Country/Rivervale The Aboriginal Family Legal Services (WA) aims to provide free, culturally secure legal support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence and/or sexual assault.
We are seeking a Director of Operations to oversee corporate and executive services. This position will report to and work closely with the CEO and members of the Senior Executive Team. This position will provide operational leadership and governance support and oversee AFLS corporate operations, monitoring and evaluation, risk management and compliance. This position will ensure AFLS is compliant across corporate functions including governance, risk and facilities management.
About the role: The Director of Operations will contribute to strategic planning and assist the CEO to implement the strategic plan. Lead continuous improvement projects across the organisation including service transformation initiatives. Manage the risk and governance framework, including maintaining the risk register and ensuring legislative compliance. Oversee facilities management including office supplies, events hosting and travel arrangements for staff. Support and work with the Regional Manager, Principal Legal Officer and Governance Officer to ensure compliance and processes are being followed and regions concerns are being met.
Oversee and support the Governance Officer with the preparation of papers and minutes for Board/Board Committee and general meetings. This includes all aspects of the Annual General meeting. Manage and oversee all Governance reports for ORIC including requirements as a registered charity and compliance with National CLC Accreditation Scheme and act as the Information Barrier Compliance Officer. Support and oversee the policy register for the organisation and ensure that all policies and procedures for the AFLS are up to date. Working closely with the Senior Executive Team, have responsibility for the accurate and timely collection, recording and reporting of data consistent with client management system processes and funder and organisational requirements. Working closely with the Senior Executive Team, oversee all research and evaluation activities of the AFLS.
To be considered for this position you need to meet the following criteria: ESSENTIAL Senior leadership experience in a not for profit or professional services organisation. Highly developed and able to demonstrate organisational, communication and leadership skills. Highly developed and able to demonstrate knowledge of developing budgets and business plans. Highly developed and able to demonstrate knowledge of data analysis, performance metrics and business management software. Proven experience in planning and managing operational processes to maximise business efficiency and productivity. Relevant Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience. Interpersonal skills and experience Exceptional strategic planning skills and experience, in a values-driven context. Exceptional written, oral and presentation skills. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders. Experience of working with Aboriginal communities Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people. Knowledge of and/or experience with remote Aboriginal community issues. Commitment to the principles of Aboriginal self-determination and social justice. Operational knowledge and experience running remote operations / organisations. Demonstrated ability to travel to remote areas to support regional offices. Personal organisation skills Highly organised with good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. ESSENTIAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or have a current visa to work in Australia. Current Police Clearance Certificate. Current Working with Children Check. Travel to regional offices and/or remote locations is required. Must be prepared to provide 'on call' duties as required.
