This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in the Mid-West Region?Geraldton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Aboriginal Education Support Coordinator (the Coordinator) to join their collaborative and committed team and support best practice in the implementation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education within the school and the school's community.Geraldton SHS is an inclusive, diverse, and vibrant, growing school of choice located in a coastal, connected community.
In 2019 the school transitioned to a Year 7 to 12 campus with an additional 3-year groups added to the school site.
The school has adjusted well to this change and staff have worked to ensure younger students are catered for and provided with opportunities throughout their six years of schooling.

The Coordinator would provide leadership and consultancy to the school's Executive and Leadership Teams to support Geraldton SHS in implementing the Department of Education's strategic plan for culturally responsive leadership and the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.They will ideally be well organised, have highly developed conceptual and analytical skills as well as the ability to develop effective working relationships within and external to the Department, including Aboriginal families and communities.
They would be integral in supporting the work of Geraldton SHS by providing Aboriginal perspective to help strengthen cultural responsiveness and improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal students.The priority of this position involves leading in collaboration with school teams strategies aimed at improving school attendance, engagement and academic achievement of Aboriginal students and productive working relationships with Aboriginal families and stakeholders.The successful applicant would be responsible for co-facilitating with the school's Principal the Cultural Reference Group and the Aboriginal Education Committee at Geraldton SHS.
The Coordinator will lead and manage the professional growth and career progression of the school's team of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs) and provide mentorship and coaching to AIEOs on a needs basis.
