2nd Assistant Superintendent– Manly GC, Sydney, NSW.
Founded in 1903 Manly Golf Club is one of Sydney's original foundation clubs located just a few blocks from Manly's iconic beaches.
In its more than 120 years' existence, Manly's 18 hole layout has undergone a number of physical changes, none more significant than the total course redevelopment, completed 2012, with a masterplan prepared by golf course architects, Thomson Perrett.
Upon completion of the redevelopment and 'grow-in' phase the Club has gone from strength to strength with membership now with waiting period to entry.
The Club offers a great opportunity for a dynamic turfgrass professional to take on this important role and be an integral part of our senior management team reporting directly to the General Manager.
Applicants require experience in all aspects of turf management and enjoy driving change to maximise the potential of their staff and the course.
Strong leadership and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate openly and honestly with members, staff, management and Club Committee.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Chemical spraying certificate,
Experience with Toro irrigation systems operation & repairs will be highly advantageous but non-essential,
An understanding of WH&S requirements on golf courses,
Current driver's licence,
Work directly with Course Superintendent and other key staff members/management to consistently improve the golf course, clubhouse surrounds, maintenance facility and all safety programs,
Help schedule and supervise the daily operations of the course maintenance staff,
Train, motivate and supervise the staff in a capable manner,
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL IDEALLY POSSESS:
Minimum Cert III in Turf Management or equivalent qualifications,
Strong work ethic and can-do attitude,
Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with staff, industry stakeholders and relevant associations.
Proven track record in the turf industry,
Experience in chemical applications
Help promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance and communications,
Extensive experience in the planning and maintenance of a high quality golf course.
Demonstrated commitment to high quality and timely service delivery, in accordance with identified member or stakeholder needs.
Demonstrated experience in presenting high quality bentgrass putting surfaces, couch playing surfaces and adapting to climatic conditions relevant to the courses location.
Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, site visits (including other golf courses) and trade shows.
