Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – Flinders Medical Centre – Division of Surgery & Perioperative MedicineTotal Indicative Remuneration: $105,751 - $171,579 MDP2 (pro rata) | Full Time, Contract in line with SMOEA Play a key role in our Junior Medical team as a 2026 SALHN Oesophagogastric Fellow!As the OesophagoGastric Surgery Fellow, you will be accountable to the Director of the Division of Surgery and Perioperative Medicine, taking responsibility for delivering high-quality care to patients across various settings, including wards, theatres, the Endoscopy Unit, investigational areas, emergency department, and outpatient clinics.
In this multifaceted role, you will seamlessly navigate the day-to-day operational guidelines of these diverse healthcare environments, ensuring exceptional patient care at every touchpoint.
Your expertise and commitment to excellence will be instrumental in upholding SA Health's reputation for outstanding medical services.About the role: Reporting to the Head of OesophagoGastric Unit, some of your duties as the Oesophagogastric Fellow may involve: In association with the Unit Registrars, supervise junior medical officers and students on a day-to-day basis ensuring ready availability to provide advice and guidance.
Attending unit meetings.
Presence at weekly consultant Post-Take Ward Rounds.
Present regularly and participate in the mandatory monthly General Surgery Journal Club Please note: As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years.
Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as FELLOW will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements.
This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.About you: Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.Registered with the Medical Board of Australian as a medical Practitioner.Successfully passed FRACS or equivalent.Competence in surgical procedures appropriate to the OGS Unit.Experience in providing clinical services at a level commensurate with final year of training in OGS Surgery.Broad clinical experience and competence in the practice of surgery.Experience in clinical education and accreditation activities.
