Established in 1971, the Queensland office is the largest of the UDIA state bodies.Our members are property development professionals and our business is about building communities. The UDIA Queensland consists of a head office in Brisbane, complemented by 12 regional branches around the State.What are we looking for?We are looking for someone who is passionate about the property industry. You will relish the chance to have a yarn with our members to understand the policy barriers keeping them awake at night. With a particular focus on supporting our regional branches, you will possess a keen interest in the issues that impact our members, as well as the unique ability to understand, interpret, and distil the detail of policy minutiae. You're quite adept at turning a phrase! You will be able to draft correspondence and submissions that express difficult concepts in an easy to read format for a wide variety of stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Town planning qualifications would be a distinct advantage.We're looking for a fantastic communicator with intelligence, energy, enthusiasm and willingness to go the extra mile.This position is a twelve month contract.What are you looking for?You've been in the property industry for a few years and are looking for your next challenge. Most importantly, you are passionate about advocating for changes that will equip our members to create better communities for Queenslanders.General responsibilities:Engage effectively with UDIA Queensland branches to coordinate input for the purposes of developing UDIA Queensland submissions to state and local government on policies and legislation.Work proactively with UDIA Queensland regional branches and the Director, Regional Services, coordinate and draft submissions to local policy matters.Produce member communications which effectively and succinctly communicate issues of relevance to UDIA Queensland's membership and the Institute's response.Manage relationships with volunteer officials throughout the state to ensure two-way communication is maintained on all policy matters.Contribute to trust-based, collaborative relationship building between the UDIA Queensland Policy Team and Branch Committees throughout the state to ensure policies balance state-wide objectives and local imperatives.Other duties as required.The ideal candidate....Five years industry experience.Relevant tertiary qualifications, particularly planning.Ability to understand and take a strategic approach to land use planning, development, and related matters.Sound understanding of legislation and policies relevant to the industry.Excellent analytical, research, logic and problem-solving skills.Conscientious, diligent and reliable.High level oral and written communication skills and negotiation and relationship management skills.Ability to work independently; work with initiative; and manage work to meet deadlines.If you think you're our new Policy Advisor, please forward a current CV and cover letter that addresses the criteria to Lauren Barker.
