Start date to be negotiated with successful applicant ABOUT THE ORGANISATION EREA Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,000 young people in 21 Flexible Schools (12 based in Queensland and 9 other schools across Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in Sydney.
Flexi schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses.
They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, to co-create a Common Ground using Operation by Principles, in which the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal are embedded.
ABOUT THE ROLE This role requires a person with the passion and skills to assist and support young people to achieve success in transitioning from school to post-school options that may include employment, further qualifications, and higher learning.
The successful candidate will be able to work independently to achieve successful transitions for members of the school community as well as working a part of a larger school team.
Located in the school, the Transitions Officer will work with each individual young person to develop pathways, assist with goal setting, and provide learning choices to ensure young people are well prepared and resourced to leave school successfully.
The Transitions Officer will build and contribute to local networks and partnerships to strengthen community connections with the school.

ABOUT YOU Ability to implement a range of appropriate strategies to support young people with their learning; Ability to work within the practice frameworks of Flexible Schools expressed through Operation by Principles and Common Ground (see website for more detail); Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders; Tertiary qualifications at Certificate level or equivalent qualifications relevant for a Youth Support Worker or such knowledge and experience to successfully carry out the duties of this position; An understanding of and commitment to principles of social justice; Sound level of verbal and written communication skills, including participating in meeting processes, report writing and negotiation skills; Understanding of current youth work practice, trends and issues in service provision to marginalised young people particularly within the alternate education sector; Skills in computing (especially word processing, Internet) and skills, or the ability to develop skills in database; Experience in careers, transition or employment services; Ability to work autonomously and show initiative; Excellent communication and networking skills; Willingness to assist with daily student transport to and from school; Current and valid NSW Working with Childrens Check; Current first aid certificate or willingness to obtain; Current NSW Driver's License.
Willingness to obtain a LR license is an advantage.
