Doveton College serves approximately 100 children in the Early Learning Centre, more than 600 students in Foundation to Year 9, and offers a wide range of educational and allied health support.
Selection Criteria KSC 1 Demonstrated highly developed skills when working with primary and secondary-aged children.
KSC 2 Demonstrated knowledge of trauma symptomology and treatment, child/adolescent development, family systems, and abuse/neglect.
KSC 3 Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
KSC 4 Experience in the development and implementation of programs that foster resilience in children and young people.
KSC 5 Demonstrated experience in facilitating group programs.
Role The Youth Worker (0.6 EFT) at Doveton College supports students aged between Prep and Year 9 with targeted therapeutic goals to assist in their engagement in education.
Responsibilities include:
Group work facilitation and program development Youth Engagement Mentoring and Support The Youth Worker will possess:
A relevant diploma or higher with a specialization in youth work Strong understanding of youth development principles and best practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently Knowledge of community resources to connect youth with appropriate services Responsibilities Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Group Facilitation: Plan and facilitate group activities promoting teamwork and personal growth. Create a supportive atmosphere for participants to express themselves. Assess the effectiveness of programs and suggest improvements. Youth Engagement: Build trusting relationships with youth participants. Implement strategies to involve young people in planning activities. Provide individualized, goal-focused care for mental health. Mentorship and Support: Provide guidance and mentorship to youth. Collaborate with other support staff to address diverse needs. Documentation and Reporting: Complete accurate case notes and prepare reports for evaluation. Report concerns to relevant external services. Attend required staff meetings and provide professional development.
