Role Description/Criteria Youth Worker – Koorie Culture ClassIn 2025, the newly named Saints College - Geelong Campus, currently St Joseph's Special Assistance School, is seeking an experienced Youth Worker to join our community. Since 2012, we have led the way in radically inclusive education, supporting students with diverse challenges. We are an inclusive school for 12-25 year olds seeking an alternative to mainstream education. Our environment celebrates all abilities and backgrounds, providing transformative learning experiences catering to individual needs.
We operate multiple campuses located in North Melbourne, Geelong, Colac, Ballarat, and a dual engagement virtual learning campus, BlendED. In 2025, we will expand our offerings with the opening of three new campuses in Fitzroy North, Sunshine, and Bungaree, as part of our growth strategy to establish additional campuses in the future. The young people we serve often face significant and complex educational, social, developmental, psychological, health, legal, or familial challenges, which demand unique interventions. Our approach is grounded in the Operation by Principles framework, which combines education with an understanding of trauma-informed practices.
The Role:We are looking for a full-time Youth Worker to join our team, based at the Geelong campus. You will be employed on an ongoing basis, commencing ASAP or Term 1 2025, and will be employed under the Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022.
You will need:Ability to commit to and work within our Operating Principles; Respect, Participation, Safe and Legal, and Honesty.Tertiary Qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, and Behavioural Science and/or equivalent experience.Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and provide a National Police Check certificate (issued within the last six months).Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully communicate with a range of people.Identify as a person of Indigenous heritage or have strong relationships, background, knowledge, and understanding of Indigenous people and cultures.Have respect and passion for the importance of education with knowledge of schools in Indigenous communities and the challenges relating to transition to Pathway Schools.Have a commitment to social justice, social inclusion, and reconciliation to improve outcomes for Indigenous people and communities.Demonstrated commitment to contributing to a positive team environment.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are encouraged to apply, we are an Equal Opportunity Employer and value diversity.
