The Youth Work Practitioner roles will work as a team to support the delivery of an evidence and data driven Youth Support Service to students. The Youth Work Practitioner roles will use their skills and experience to support the Youth Support Service provision and contribute to the professional practice of Youth Support Workers in schools through delivery of group and individual programs for students/schools presenting with complexity.
Youth Work Practitioners provide multi-tiered youth work service provision to schools through a centralised process to ensure equity across ACT public schools. Senior Youth Workers provide professional learning and professional practice supervision for school-based youth support workers. The Youth Work Coordinator provides professional supervision for the Senior Youth Workers. The Director/Team Leader oversees the operational needs of the team, and the Senior Director (Clinical Practice) oversees the strategic and policy direction of the Service.
The ideal candidate has experience in leading and supporting professionals capable of providing timely, high-quality services. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of supports and be familiar with education settings and can impact positively on student outcomes through developing a strong understanding of needs, strengthening communication, building capacity in schools and championing Directorate commitments to continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements Possession of a current driver's licence The Youth Work Practitioner role requires that applicants have obtained, at a minimum, an Australian Qualifications Framework Certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent. Access to a private vehicle with comprehensive insurance Highly Desirable Minimum AQF Cert IV in Youth Work or Diploma in human services with additional training in a youth work role A minimum of three years work experience in youth work or equivalent. Relevant experience in education or a related area. A comprehensive knowledge of youth services and programs in the ACT, and established connections with the ACT Youth and Community Sector. Completion or willingness to undertake training: such as Trauma Informed Practice, Cultural Awareness, Youth Mental Health First Aid and Alcohol and other drug harm minimisation. Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of up to 12 months and/or permanency. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
